Understanding AI Usage in Kinnect

Kinnect AI helps reduce manual data entry by organizing, categorizing, processing, summarizing, and linking documents inside your account.

Because these AI features require processing power, each Kinnect license includes a monthly AI usage limit. These limits help us support high-volume document workflows while keeping pricing fair for users who use AI at normal levels.

What counts toward AI usage?

AI usage may occur when Kinnect helps process, organize, or analyze information, including when you:

  • Upload documents into Kinnect

  • Forward files or emails into your Kinnect inbox

  • Use AI to categorize or organize documents

  • Use AI to extract information from documents

  • Generate summaries or insights from uploaded files

  • Link documents to templates or records

  • Use AI-powered automations inside your account

In general, the more documents you upload and the more AI processing you use, the more AI usage will be consumed.

Monthly AI usage limits by license type

Each Kinnect license includes the following monthly AI usage limit:

Additional users may use Kinnect AI, but their usage is attributed to the applicable license selected for that session or account.

When does my AI usage reset?

Your monthly AI usage resets at the beginning of each billing cycle.

Unused monthly AI usage does not roll over into future billing cycles.

What happens if I get close to my limit?

Kinnect will notify you when your account reaches 80% of the monthly AI usage limit.

You may receive both:

  • An in-system notification

  • An email notification

This gives you visibility before additional AI charges may apply.

What happens if I exceed my monthly limit?

If your account exceeds the monthly AI usage limit included with your license, Kinnect will automatically add an additional AI usage tranche.

Each additional tranche includes:

5,000,000 additional tokens for $100

Additional tranches are added automatically as needed so your AI-powered workflows can continue without interruption.

For example, if your license includes 10,000,000 monthly tokens and your account exceeds that limit, Kinnect will add an additional 5,000,000 tokens and charge $100. If usage later exceeds 15,000,000 tokens in the same billing cycle, another tranche may be added.

Unused additional tokens do not roll over into future billing cycles.

How will I know if I am charged?

When your usage reaches 80% of your monthly limit, Kinnect will notify you in-system and by email.

If your account exceeds the monthly limit and an additional AI usage tranche is added, the payment method associated with the applicable license will be charged automatically. You will receive a billing email from Stripe confirming the charge.

Why does Kinnect charge for additional AI usage?

Most users are expected to stay within the AI usage included in their license.

However, some accounts may process large volumes of documents, PDFs, emails, spreadsheets, or other files in a short period of time. For example, uploading hundreds or thousands of documents can require substantial AI processing.

Usage-based limits allow Kinnect to support these high-volume workflows without increasing the base subscription price for all users.

How can I view my AI usage?

You can view your AI usage at any time by going to:

AI Settings → My AI Usage

You can also manage certain AI automation settings from within AI Settings.

How does AI attribution work when managing another person’s account?

When you enter another person’s account through guardian permission, you may be asked to select the license where AI usage should be attributed during that session.

AI usage during that session will be applied to the selected license.

Depending on the situation, the available attribution options may include:

  • The license you are currently on

  • The license associated with the account you are entering

If the account you are entering does not have an eligible license or payment method, AI usage may need to be attributed to your license.

Can I avoid additional AI charges?

You can reduce the likelihood of additional AI charges by monitoring your AI usage before uploading large batches of documents.

This will help you understand how much AI usage remains in your current billing cycle.

Where can I see AI charges?

Additional AI charges will appear in your billing records and Stripe receipts.
